Abstract

Background: In the modern digital era, concerns have emerged regarding the impact of screen exposure on sleep quality, particularly due to the disruption caused by blue light emitted from electronic devices. Screen protection glasses or lenses, designed to filter out blue light, have emerged as a potential solution.

Objectives: To evaluate and compare the effect of blue light blocking glasses in improving sleep patterns.

Methods: The total of 122 participants of age 15 to 35 years were selected by using non-probability convenient sampling technique, this sample size was equally divided into two groups 61 for users of blue light blocking lenses and 61 for non-users of blue light blocking lenses. The data was collected and analyzed by (SPSS) by applying Descriptive Statistics and Chi-Square.

Results: Results revealed that despite heavy screen usage (more than 4 hours), users of blue light protection lenses displayed better sleep patterns and shorter sleep onset compared to non-users. The study's findings, supported by a significant level of (<0.001), underscore the authenticity and academic strength of the research.

Conclusions: This study found that paying attention to screen habits is crucial for good sleep and digital health. It highlights the benefits of using blue light protection lenses, which help improve sleep and maintain our body's natural sleep-wake cycle.
